portrait of Carol Warner, Metalsmith

Best known for her work with color on metals, Carol Warner  developed her own novel method of coloring metal which allows a full spectrum of hues that can be developed to very specific color options.  As a metalsmith Carol pushes the scale and purpose of hand hammered copper holloware, transforming what are traditionally considered vessel shapes into sculptural objects representative of forms found in nature.

Carol was born in the greater Chicago area and educated in Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, England and Mexico. She has worked professionally and exhibited internationally for over 35 years and currently lives and work in Minneapolis, MN where she maintains her studio and teaches Color on Metal: Redefining Patina. Her work has been published in a variety of books including Color on Metal, Patina, Object Lessons and Celebrating the Stitch.
